Lee Hyungi was born in Daegu in 2144. When she was four, her parents divorced. Soon after, her mother moved to the United States with a new boyfriend, leaving her alone with her father, a failed screenwriter who made a modest living teaching. After seeing her sing in her primary school musical, he quickly recognized that his daughter had massive potential, so he moved them to Seoul to help her pursue show business.

In 2158, Hyungi became the youngest member of the iconic group Violet Whisper, which had four perfect all-kill hits in the 2160s. Although in public the group projected a wholesome, cheerful image, all was not well behind the scenes. Conflict was a constant between the members of the group, and in 2163, Hyungi also discovered that her father, who had been acting as her manager, had embezzled a staggering amount of money from her. The resulting court battle was very messy and very public, and afterwards Hyungi would never see either of her parents again.

By 2165, the relationship between Violet Whisper’s members had deteriorated so severely that they were no longer recording in the same room, a tortured process which had not only delayed their new album, but negatively impacted the quality. Faced with the impending release of a new album Hyungi was convinced would destroy the band’s career, she decided it was time to go solo. One month before the album’s release, Hyungi announced that she was leaving Violet Whisper in an explosive interview that also shed light on the dysfunction within the group and included accusations of physical and emotional abuse from the older members of the band.

The interview was salacious, petty, and sensational, going viral almost instantly. Violet Whisper’s new album, released the month after the interview, was a complete flop, but the momentum of the interview propelled Hyungi’s first solo single, “Breakfast in Bed,” released later that year, to stratospheric heights. The other members of the band would never forgive her.

After the messy fallout with her father, Hyungi swore that she would never again let someone take advantage of her financially, so while she was conquering the K-Pop world with her solo singles, she also devoted every spare moment to studying business. Fame had many advantages, but by 2168, Hyungi had spent almost half her life in the entertainment industry, watching faceless people in boardrooms use young men and women like her as tools to shape pop culture, and what she really wanted was power. Using the proceeds of her music career, Hyungi transformed herself from an entertainer to a business powerhouse, expanding her reach into films, television, cosmetics, and fashion.

In 21673, at the age of 29, Hyungi became Korea’s youngest ever female self-made billionaire. It was also the year she would release her last single, “Pure Imagination,” choosing instead to devote herself to the day-to-day work of expanding her now sizable entertainment empire.

When Sunil Ramachandran’s men found her, she had been trapped in her penthouse in the Gangnam district for two months. She has steadfastly refused to speak of how she survived, but rescuers did note that there appeared to be a rudimentary system for gathering dew and rainwater, as well as supplies for several pets that did not seem to be present in the dwelling.

Although she lacks the technical or scientific proficiency of many of the other individuals in the Ark, Hyungi does possess something that they don’t – a keen insight into human psychology, the politics and process involved in molding popular culture, and an almost superhuman ability to make people pay attention to and listen to her. She is currently located in the bunker near Sainshand in Mongolia, where rumor has it another surviving member of Violet Whisper has also found refuge. One wonders if Hyungi is even aware of her former bandmate… and what grudges she may still hold.
